 MARKETS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
In addition to timber and non wood forest products, forests provide many environmental
services. Those values which are commonly described include biodiversity, water, carbon and
aesthetics. Since many of these services are poorly defined it is a challenge for them to get
the recognition they need and deserve, irrespective of the economy.
